Spring Marathon Tier Structure: 3 Medal Tiers Done Right 🏃♀️
Most spring races award a single finisher medal regardless of distance. Tiering across 5K, 10K, and half-marathon levels takes one extra die — and dramatically increases the perceived achievement for longer-distance finishers.

Diameter as the Tier Signal
Use 60mm for 5K finishers, 70mm for 10K, 80mm for half-marathon. Same die family, different sized blanks — the factory swap is trivial but the visual tier is immediate. Runners who upgrade to a longer distance next season get a physically larger medal as their reward, and the diameter difference is visible at one meter.
Distinct Ribbon Color Per Tier
Bronze ribbon for 5K, silver for 10K, gold-and-color stripe for half-marathon. The tier is now readable from the medal hanging on the runner's chest in the finish-line photo — and that visibility is what drives social-media sharing. Cost per ribbon is identical; the design discipline is free.
