Corporate Bangkok runs employee-of-the-year ceremonies almost daily this week. The single biggest determinant of usable ceremony photos is not the award itself — it is whether the presenter knows how to hand it off.

The Three-Second Pause Is the Photo

After handing the plaque, the presenter should pause for three seconds holding the handshake position with the recipient — neither lets go. That pause is when the company photographer fires. Without coaching, presenters release immediately, leaving the photographer with motion blur. Brief presenters with: shake hands, pause, smile at camera, count to three, then release.

Plaque Faces the Camera, Not the Recipient

During the pause, the plaque should face the camera lens — recipient holds it at chest height, slightly tilted so the engraved face catches stage light. New recipients instinctively hold it facing themselves to read; brief them to rotate outward before the photo. Same plaque, completely different photo result.
